Our culture is built on how productive we can be, how much we can achieve and what we are planning to do next. Restorative yoga can help with balancing a fast paced, on the go lifestyle and has an enormous capacity to heal physical and mental symptoms. As a society we have too much stress placed upon us and as you may know many diseases these days are stress related.
Restorative yoga provides us with the opportunity to notice where we hold this tension and can teach us ways to utilize breathing techniques to stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system to “rest and restore”. Benefits of restorative poses include optimizing energy flow to the organs, improved sleep, decreasing feelings of anxiety and reduce the production of stress-hormone levels.
From this workshop you can expect to walk away with a better understanding on how to utilize props, learns ways to go deeper into supportive poses and bring awareness back to your breath. You can expect to be in these restorative poses for intervals of 10-20 minutes to allow gravity to draw us towards the steadiness of the earth. * If you already own props (bolsters, straps, blocks, yoga mats and blankets) please bring them along with you, otherwise please bring any blanket and pillow.
